Our Story
Welcome from all of us at Coldwater Creek! Our headquarters in Sandpoint, Idaho, is nestled in the scenic valley between the Selkirk and Cabinet mountain ranges that surround beautiful Lake Pend Oreille. We specialize in women's apparel, accessories and gifts. Apparel that carries the wide-open flavor of this area, yet suits decidedly urban landscapes as well. We're glad you found us.
Less than 20 years ago we began as a home business with only one phone, an extra-long cord, a closet stuffed with merchandise and a fierce determination to set new standards for mail order service. Today, our employee roster has swelled to about 1,900 and the home office has grown to a 20-acre campus surrounded by broad mountain vistas. The East Coast Operations Center in Parkersburg, West Virginia, serves our large base of customers along the Eastern seaboard and points west. Our Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, Call Center fields calls from all over the world.
In 1988 our flagship retail store opened in Sandpoint. Today Coldwater Creek occupies most of the shop space in its unique location on a bridge spanning Sand Creek in the center of town. It was joined in 1997 by a sister store in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Today there are Coldwater Creek stores in cities throughout the United States.
In addition to catalogs and retail stores, Coldwater Creek has a major Web presence and is recognized as a leading Web source for women's fashions and accessories. In 1997 Coldwatercreek.com was launched primarily as an outlet for clearance merchandise. In July, 1999 the site was re-launched with our entire product offering and a popular clearance section, Coldwater Creek Outlet.
Coldwater Creek became a public company on January 29, 1997, and is traded on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange under the symbol CWTR. Inc. Magazine named us as one of the 500 fastest-growing companies in America for five years in a row. And Forbes Magazine listed us among its "200 Best Small Companies" for 1998.
